School of Pizzica

Pizzica is an ancient Salento dance that is more sensual than Tango. The people of Salento adore this courtship dance, and during the summer season you can find a Pizzica evening in the piazza practically every night.

The taranta dance, reserved for female dancers only, frees the dancer from inner tensions and conflicts. For men, it is possible to learn the sword dance.

Staying at Palazzo Ducale Venturi will reserve private pizzica and taranta lessons taught by an expert dance instructor. And then in the evening off to the piazza to let loose among the lights and dancers that crowd the joyful squares of the Salento villages.
